Here is a powerpoint showing the new formulation of KET plus new Discovery Education features including changes to My Content, My Builder Tools, and My Classrooms.
KET EncycloMedia (KEM) now has a new way to give students access to content from the service. It is called the "My Classrooms" Feature. When coupled with the pre-existing "My Builder Tools" feature, teachers now have a lot of flexibility in how they provide students access to content. To see these features, go to the KET EncycloMedia homepage. There you will see a blue navigation bar in the upper third of the page. Below is a screen capture showing where this is located. In this screen capture I have highlighted in pink, two items. One is "My Builder Tools" and the other is "My Classrooms".
My Builder Tools option: gives a teacher the capability to create an online assignment, quiz, or writing prompt they can give students access to either by providing students a web address and assignment code that will take them to the assignment, or they can assign any of the "built" resources to their students via the My Classrooms feature. My Classrooms option: gives a teacher the capability to create any number of "virtual classrooms". Students are added to these classes either individually by typing in their name, user name and password, or with a school or district administrator's help, student information can be "bulk" uploaded from the school's or district's Active Directory. The teacher can then easily choose the students from a roster and add them to as many virtual classroom's as that they want to create. Here is a prototype powerpoint that provides some details about the newest Builder tools and My Classrooms features. As more information is released this will be updated:
Here is a PDF with instructions to help school and district administrators upload student information from Active Directory in order that teachers can create student accounts:
